Research In Residence
The Gender+ Justice Initiative expands its commitment to feminist research praxis by inviting intersectional feminist thought-leaders, activists, and artists from around the globe as Researchers in Residence. G+JI provides Researchers in Residence 2 to 3-year fellowships with research support and opportunities to disseminate their work and collaborate with Georgetown faculty, scholars and students on interdisciplinary projects related to gender+ justice.
RESEARCHER IN RESIDENCE, 2026-2028
The Georgetown University Gender+ Justice Initiative is delighted to welcome Jamaican-American vocalist, composer, and cultural storyteller Candice Hoyes as its Researcher in Residence for 2026–2028.
During her residency, Hoyes will develop a collection of essays exploring songs from across the Black Diaspora through Womanist theoretical frameworks, bringing music, history, cultural memory, and Black feminist thought into conversation.
INAUGURAL RESEARCHER IN RESIDENCE, 2021-2024
Rokhaya Diallo served as G+JI’s inaugural Researcher-in-Residence from 2021 to 2024. A French journalist, writer, filmmaker, and antiracist feminist advocate, Diallo helped shape the residency through her work at the intersections of gender, racial justice, media, and culture. Diallo continues to be affiliated with G+JI and remains an active member of its intellectual and creative community.
