Chemical Heroes Named a 2021 CHOICE Magazine Outstanding Academic Title
Join us in welcoming Professor Andrew Bickford for a conversation on his book Chemical Heroes –Pharmacological Supersoldiers in the US Military (Duke University Press, 2021). Bickford analyzes the US military’s attempts to design performance enhancement technologies and create pharmacological “supersoldiers” capable of becoming ever more lethal while withstanding various forms of extreme trauma.

About the author:
Andrew Bickford is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Georgetown University, author of Fallen Elites: The Military Other in Post-Unification Germany, and co-author of The Counter-Counterinsurgency Manual, or Notes on Demilitarizing American Society.
