IPE Faculty Lecture featuring: Ryan M. Combs, Ph.D, M.A., Associate Professor, School of Public Health and Information Sciences at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Ryan M. Combs (he/him) is an Associate Professor of Health Promotion & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Louisville School of Public Health & Information Sciences. His qualitative and community-based research explores the impact of health policies and practices on historically marginalized and minoritized populations. Dr. Combs has over 15 years of experience conducting research with stakeholders such as community members, patient groups, policymakers, and practitioners. He recently completed a state-funded community-engaged project to tailor 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline messaging to African American and LGBTQ+ Kentuckians. Currently, he leads the development of medical education curriculum to help providers identify trauma and promote resilience in LGBTQ+ adolescents. Outside of work, Ryan serves on the board of the Fairness Campaign, Kentucky’s statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organization.
